The Blue Mug
‘The Blue Mug’ is a devised piece of theatre in which actors Rajat Kapoor, Sheeba Chadha, Munish Bhardwaj and Vinay Pathak go down the path of their personal memories – their childhood, adolescence and youth, and also immediate past in their middle age. The play depicts the larger canvas of Indian memory through monologues and improvised scenes between the actors.
This play enjoys strong critical acclaim and has been a grand success with multiple shows on public demand over the past 8 years. Currently performing all through India, it will be touring the US, Gulf, UK & Brazil in April-May 2010. A little about the Actors:
Konkona Sen Sharma
One of the finest film actors we have in India who, with many diverse portrayals in cinema, has won accolades that cannot be accommodated in this document. She continues to explore the commercial as well as more experimental cinema while flirting with live theatre once in a while.
Ranvir Shorey
His journey from film production to television appearances to accomplished film actor is known to all in India. Few know that he also has surprises to offer as a live theatre actor. This is his first major role in a play that has enthralled audience and critics alike.
Rajat Kapoor
Film director, theater director, film actor, theatre actor, model, television host, writer- Rajat wears many artistic hats and has made a mark in Indian theatre and cinema that audiences and critics have applauded time and again. He is 3 times National Award winner for film direction. A former student of FTII Pune he has been pivotal to the changing trends of small budget films in Bollywood.
Sheeba Chaddha
12 years experience of theatre acting. Has performed in 30 plays in different languages in India and outside India Film and theatre actor who has worked with different directors and styles of performance in India and abroad. A known face on television, she also occasionally pulls off remarkable performances in cinema.
Vinay Pathak
Actor in theatre, film and television, Vinay is now a known face all over India for his remarkable portrayals in different avatars. He is also trained as a theatre actor in NY city. He runs his own film production company and regularly dabbles with challenging creations on stage.
Munish Bhardwaj
Film director and theatre actor- director Long association with theatre through his theatre group Chingari in Delhi Studied film direction in FTII Pune. His company ‘Modern Times’ produces short documentaries and corporate films Film director and theatre actor- director, Munish has had a long association with theatre through his theatre group Chingari in Delhi.
Based on ‘The man who mistook his wife for a hat’ by Oliver Sacks, The Blue Mug is Indian Theater at its best. The Schedule is as below:
